The LQ began when I met Guy Curd, a local cellist who runs The Sydney Chamber Orchestra.

Initially I adapted some of my choral scores for string quartet, but soon started arranging songs specifically for the group, and writing the odd song too.

Tony Backhouse also did two gorgeous arrangements for the group (Born To Be Wild and Jealous Guy) and Christina Mimocchi arranged April After All.

We mainly play in people’s lounge rooms, advertised by email - a soiree really - with wine and a bit of food laid on.  Sydney is cuurently having a bit of a ‘underground venue’ renaissance, with muso’s eschewing the hopeless live music scene in favour of obscure but funky venues which travel under the radar of the antiquated NSW licensing system.
